Adam & Aaron | Married

In 2020 we were no stranger to plans changing, and then changing again. I don’t want to sound like a broken record with all of that, but I am going to share the most intimate wedding I have shot to date. (Also, the first same-sex wedding I have photographed - thank you for trusting me you two)

Aaron contacted me about one month before their wedding, we jumped on a call and I learned so much about the two of them in that 15-minute phone call.

They had originally planned an April 2021 wedding, 4.3.21 to be exact. But they found out that Adam’s mom was sick with cancer again, and their whole world got shaken up. Plans changed quickly, and as much as they wanted everyone to be able to celebrate with them, having Adam’s mom walk him down the aisle became most important. What I haven’t told you yet, is that Adam & Aaron live in Houston Texas, and because non-essential travel is not allowed, they officially got married before they came to Canada because Adam’s mom was so sick. They had their officiant conduct their ceremony over Zoom, with family and friends all attending virtually. Pretty much sums up gatherings in 2020.

They quickly planned a wedding in Lethbridge and booked the venue and everything, but then Alberta’s Covid numbers started getting out of control, and the province placed extreme restrictions on gatherings. I have never listened to the provincial announcement as closely as I did that day, where again, plans were forced to change.

Wedding ceremonies could take place, but with a limit of 10 people, and no receptions. Boom.

Quickly things were questioned, what is the point of paying for a venue to have 7 guests attend?

Enter… #weddinginaweek.

That announcement was made on Tuesday, and the following Wednesday they got married in Adam’s parents’ basement.

Adam and Aaron and their family pulled together, SUCH a beautiful wedding.

So much attention was on the little details, it was warm, cozy, elegant, and glamorous. (Beyonce would be proud, Aaron ;) )

But most importantly, Adam’s mom, Lorraine, walked him down the aisle with her husband beside her, and it was one of the most beautiful moments I have ever witnessed.

Their ceremony was beautiful and had both tears and laughter. The tissue boxes were most definitely passed around. They wrote their own vows, exchanged rings, and sealed it with a kiss.

Adam and Aaron, you stole my heart this year. I have so much love for the two of you, and your love story. I wish you a lifetime of adventure and happiness together. Hold each other tight.
xo,
K
