Justin and Kristen | Italian Canadian Cultural Centre Wedding
Justin and Kristen got married in July at the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta. Now, officially, Mr. & Mrs. Jones, and I couldn’t be happier for them!! Family and friends traveled in from as far as Manitoba to celebrate their Italian Canadian Cultural Centre wedding.
The morning of the wedding Justin and his groomsmen went golfing at Picture Butte Golf Club and did a short 9 hole round. They then headed back to his house to cook some breakfast... and eat some bacon of course!
Before I headed to take photos of the guys hanging out and getting ready, I stopped by Flowers on 9th to pick up all the florals for the wedding party and the ceremony/reception decor. ((One of the perks of having me as your photographer/wedding coordinator ;) ))
Justin wore a navy three-piece suit from Moore's, paired with his Houston Astros cufflinks and lobster socks. If you're a fan of Friends, then you'll think they were a witty choice. (According to Phoebe, lobsters mate for life, and Ross said to Rachel... "You're my lobster." <3 )
The groomsmen wore navy pants and vests with ivory shirts and coral ties, and I will assume they were happy not to be wearing suit jackets.
Onyx Event Hair and Makeup met the girls at the hotel to do their makeup and put the finishing touches on their glam. I love that Brinae and Tiffany are mobile and WANT to be on-location to do your glam.
Shortly after I arrived at Holiday Inn for the girls getting ready, Kristen was told she should open her gift from Justin... was a little suspicious that we were told to video her opening it. Well with the adorable card, she opened this pull-tab and out popped (literally exploded out of the package) confetti... e v e r y w h e r e. But inside, was a little photo cube that Justin had made with photos of them from the past five years.
After some detail photos of dresses, and accessories and the confetti explosion, Kristen helped her niece get dressed. Folks, these are the moments I love on wedding days.
Kristen's mom and her bridesmaids helped her get into her wedding dress. She wore a gorgeous lace dress with a scalloped hem and buttons down the back from David's Bridal. I am a SUCKER for buttons on weddings dresses, and her dress with incredible. The bridesmaids' dresses were all the same coral colour but different styles and looked so pretty! This is a great way for each bridesmaid to wear something that suits their style and is comfortable for them.
After an emotional ceremony at the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre, and a quick group photo with the drone, the bridal party and I headed down to Indian Battle Park for their formal photos. It is a dang good thing that it wasn’t more than 25 degrees on that Saturday… because without any of our "usual" Lethbridge wind, it was hot hot hot.
Dave from Lethbridge Limousine was great to have on the wedding day. He made sure everyone had water, that bouquets looked great, and the dresses were fluffed. Heck, he even serenaded us with some singing and guitar before the reception.
Pink Tie Events decorated and set up the venue for both the ceremony and reception, and really completed the look. Flowers on 9th did an incredible job on all the florals for the wedding and I would HIGHLY recommend both of these companies!
We arrived back to the Italian Canadian Cultural Centre for the reception and had an AMAZING supper prepared by Adam and his team. The tiramisu led us to the speeches by the best man, maid of honour, parents of the bride and the parents of the groom. Justin's parents had the room in stitches of laughter... I think Gordie should have been a stand up comic, but maybe in his next life. Justin and Kristen both went up and had to interrupt his dad's speech by taking the microphone away. Never in my 6 years of being a wedding photographer, have I ever witnessed that.
HiWay Productions started the party with the first dances, and Justin and Kristen had a little solo dance session to "Call Me Maybe"... it started last year at a friend’s wedding in Manitoba, so an encore presentation was necessary.
Justin and Kristen, thank you for choosing me to be a part of your day and trusting me to document your story. I wish you a lifetime of happiness together and send you both so much love.
What Justin and Kristen had to say about their wedding day..."Katlyn was absolutely wonderful to work with. You can tell she has been doing this a long time as she was easily able to answer all of our questions. She gives advice but also allows for your input and opinions to shine through. I would 10/10 recommend!" - J+K

With the snow that is falling around us now, it reminds me of their engagement photos at Lundbreck Falls.
