Reilly & Morgan | Edmonton Oilers Wedding
A few years back Reilly and Morgan hired me to photograph their wedding. I always ask questions about what they envision for their wedding, how many guests, locations, special keepsakes, and of course, colour and/or theme. They had said they were planning an "Edmonton Oilers themed wedding". To be honest, I had NO idea what to expect, but they pulled it off beautifully.... I mean, you really can't go wrong with decor with satin navy pintuck linens, fresh florals, touches of gold and silver. So much thought was put into their wedding, right down to their florals being wrapped in hockey laces. It is definitely a memorable wedding for me!Their wedding day was complete with jersey "guestbooks", orange and blue sneakers, hockey net altar, puck favours, table numbers of their favourite players, and a Stanley Cup cake.We were "blessed" *insert sarcastic tone* with the typical August weather. What is that you ask? Well it was hotter than all heck in the morning... turned into crazy summer storm in the afternoon... and then a perfect evening. After their ceremony at Westward Centre, we headed into town to take some photos at the Scott Safety Centre... just as we were finishing group photos, the sky turned dark, the wind picked up and I knew we were going to get drenched if we stayed outside any longer. We went to the neighbouring recreation centre, and played in the fieldhouse for a little bit and then were back to Westward for the reception.Just as Sonya and I were wrapping up for the evening, Morgan's mom and sister told us that we couldn't leave yet... there was a little surprise for Reilly. The "little" surprise ended up being Morgan singing to Reilly, and their friends and family joined in with their take on a flash mob. This wedding is one for the books! I love that this couple took something that they both really love, and incorporated it into their wedding day. Reilly and Morgan, you did a beautiful job on your wedding, and you have raised a beautiful family together.Much love to you all!Katlynp.s. We may or not may know each other very well... but I will tell you anyways... I am not really a sports fan, yet... Tonight, the night of Playoffs Game 1 between Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks... I find myself inevitably rooting for Edmonton.p.p.s. I think if they were to get married today, they would probably add a table #97 for Connor McDavid.
